Transparency has layers. What data trained or informed the system. Which sources a given output drew on. How the answer was reached. Where the system is uncertain or out of its depth.
A transparent system makes these things visible by design. It is the opposite of a black box, and the foundation of everything above it: without transparency there is no real explainability, governance, or trust.
For enterprises, transparency is what turns AI from a tool people are wary of into one they can rely on and defend.
