Operating Model Design

Operating model design is the discipline of defining how an organisation delivers its strategy day to day — its capabilities, processes, structure, governance, technology, and people — so that intent at the top translates into coordinated, repeatable execution on the ground.

A strategy names where to compete and how to win. The operating model determines whether the organisation can actually do it. Design work maps the capabilities the strategy requires, then arranges processes, roles, decision rights, and systems to support them without friction or duplication.

Operating model design surfaces the gap between ambition and machine. It is where transformation programmes succeed or stall, because most strategies fail in delivery, not in formulation.
