Agentic AI

Agentic AI is artificial intelligence that pursues a goal across multiple steps, planning actions, using tools, and adapting to results rather than producing a single response to a single prompt.

A chatbot answers. An agentic system acts. It breaks a goal into tasks, decides what to do next, calls tools or data sources, checks the outcome, and continues until the goal is met. This shifts AI from a question-answering aid toward a system that completes work.

That capability raises the stakes on control. An agent that acts on its own must stay within bounds, keep a record of what it did, and produce results a human can review. Autonomy without traceability is a liability.

Well-designed agentic AI is transparent about its steps. Every action is inspectable.
