The package

The case
In Stage 4 of the UNITE innovation approach, you turn your business concept into an actual business. This is a difficult move. Many organizations fail to bridge the strategy-execution gap, meaning they fail to implement the business concept they created. We designed the UNITE Operating Model Canvas to guide you in your execution decisions and setup.
The mechanics
The Operating Model Canvas expands upon the Value Chain, Key Resources, and Key Partners section of your Business Model Canvas. The core of the Operating Model Canvas is the Value Delivery Chain(s), which describes how you deliver your Value Proposition to your target customer. This enables you to see how your core processes deliver value. All other areas are Supporting Processes. These are necessary but focus on internal customers and processes as opposed to external ones. The supporting processes depicted at the top of the canvas cover the firm infrastructure, organization, partners, and locations, while the supporting areas at the bottom of the canvas focus on HR, management systems, finance, legal, and IT. The Operating Model Canvas forces your team to focus on just the key elements necessary for executing your strategy, thus cutting through the clutter and ensuring your team’s alignment with your strategy and with each other.
The purpose
What is the goal of the model?
Bridging the strategy-execution gap. 70% of companies struggle with implementing their strategy because everyone is pulling in different directions. Use the Operating Model Canvas to make sure your team understands how the key aspects of your business fit together.
Beyond the download
The PDF is yours to keep. But a model changes something only when it touches the work — and that is what Axibra does with it. The model becomes the structure your decisions are made in, and every outcome stays traceable back to the input it came from.
In practice
For years we applied this model by hand, in client engagements. It now runs inside Axibra.
Axibra helps organizations grow their innovation capability — across the whole company, not in one team.
See how it worksAxibra closes the infamous gap between strategy and execution, and carries a transformation through to delivery.
See how it worksCulture is the first reason transformations fail. Axibra keeps the organizational side of a decision in view instead of leaving it to chance.

From here on
Axibra is where these models run. It carries a decision through to the work that follows it, and keeps every result traceable back to the input it came from. If you would rather start with a conversation, we are one call away.
Strategy does not fail in the thinking. It fails in the handover.
