The UNITE Business Model Canvas
A product is only as good as the Business Model (BM) that supports it, and creating an innovative product requires an equally innovative BM. The Business Model Canvas is an easy visual tool your team can use to conceptualize and iterate the key aspects of your Business Model.

I completely re-evaluated the role of innovation in business growth: before reading this book I have to admit I thought it only entailed product new features and technologies enhancements, while now I see it has everything to do with meeting customer needs and uncovering a business USP, which automatically translates in sales! Could not recommend it more!

Unlike most business innovation books I read over the last years (and even decades) when reading How to create innovation you immediately understand the authors have been there, innovating and transforming some of the world's most amazing brands. Great work!

Not only this book offers the most comprehensive innovation and business change overview but it really helps you take the next step, driving you step by step from theory to practice (also with super useful background notes and driving questions)

I really enjoyed the whole book, but mostly the culture chapter, mainly because I always failed to acknowledge its major role in favouring or inhibiting business growth. Loved the graphics that helped connect all the dots in a visually appealing (and way easier) way.

We’been willing to innovate our business for some years now, but then we always got stuck before we even started, because basically we had no idea where to start…This book helped us do just that: find the right starting point with guiding questions and an incredibly comprehensive innovation overview.

Why we use it
Efficient assessment of strengths and assets. Firms are often not good at reflecting on their capabilities. Using a capability map provides a solid base to systematically assess your strengths. Understanding your capabilities is the ultimate prerequisite for dealing with them appropriately: where should you innovate? Where to cut costs?
How It Works
The UNITE Business Model Canvas—an iteration of Alexander Osterwalder’s original canvas—lays out the key parts of your business, including the:
Value Model— covering your different Value Propositions and related offers.
Service Model— The differentiating, core and non-core services delivered by an organization in support of their product.
Operating Model— Your approach to delivering your Value Proposition, broken into Value Chain, Key Resources, and Key Partners.

Operating Model— Your approach to delivering your Value Proposition, broken into Value Chain, Key Resources, and Key Partners.
Experience Model— The ways in which your customers experience your Value and Service Models, divided into Brand, Customer Relationships, Customer Engagement, and Channels.
Revenue Model— The ways your business earns money.
And, Cost Model— The resources you expend supporting the other aspects of the business.
The canvas allows you to see how the different areas connect, and as you iterate one part, you can think through how changes there affect the other aspects of the Business Model. The UNITE Business Model Canvas condenses years of business school and management consulting practice into a single page, with some straightforward questions to help you fill in each section.

What is the goal of the model?
An innovative Business Model. If you think of the revolution in transportation caused by Uber, or in hospitality led by Airbnb, you can see that it isn’t the product that changed, it was the Business Model. Your Business Model will need to grow alongside your product, and the UNITE Business Model Canvas enables you to plan and implement these changes.
