I completely re-evaluated the role of innovation in business growth: before reading this book I have to admit I thought it only entailed product new features and technologies enhancements, while now I see it has everything to do with meeting customer needs and uncovering a business USP, which automatically translates in sales! Could not recommend it more!

Unlike most business innovation books I read over the last years (and even decades) when reading How to create innovation you immediately understand the authors have been there, innovating and transforming some of the world's most amazing brands. Great work!

Not only this book offers the most comprehensive innovation and business change overview but it really helps you take the next step, driving you step by step from theory to practice (also with super useful background notes and driving questions)

I really enjoyed the whole book, but mostly the culture chapter, mainly because I always failed to acknowledge its major role in favouring or inhibiting business growth. Loved the graphics that helped connect all the dots in a visually appealing (and way easier) way.

We’been willing to innovate our business for some years now, but then we always got stuck before we even started, because basically we had no idea where to start…This book helped us do just that: find the right starting point with guiding questions and an incredibly comprehensive innovation overview.

Why we use it
In a green-teal environment, it is not only that what the leader does changes. It’s who the leader is and if there is even a leader at all.
This approach will likely be very different from your existing organization, and it should be! The Paradigm Shift required in Organization and Leadership allows us to understand the way leadership changes in an innovation team so we can build the right culture from the ground up.
This approach will likely be very different from your existing organization, and it should be! The Paradigm Shift required in Organization and Leadership allows us to understand the way leadership changes in an innovation team so we can build the right culture from the ground up.
How It Works
The most important thing to note is that, in an innovation context, leadership moves fluidly between people. The innovation team is not a hierarchical group in which decisions are made or direction comes from the top. Rather each member of the team takes the lead in different tasks.
You might be involved in three projects, and you are the leader in one and being led in the other two. But this could also change depending on who has the knowledge to lead in that moment. Thus, when we speak of the leader and leadership, we are talking about the person who is leading at that moment. All members of the team should cultivate the skills of a leader that we talked about.
What is the goal of the model?
Understanding the changing nature of leadership. Leadership is not incidental to the effectiveness of an innovation team. Fluid leadership means that each person has the ability to direct the team at the moment when they are most qualified to do so. This ensures cohesion, trust, and adaptability.
