I completely re-evaluated the role of innovation in business growth: before reading this book I have to admit I thought it only entailed product new features and technologies enhancements, while now I see it has everything to do with meeting customer needs and uncovering a business USP, which automatically translates in sales! Could not recommend it more!

Unlike most business innovation books I read over the last years (and even decades) when reading How to create innovation you immediately understand the authors have been there, innovating and transforming some of the world's most amazing brands. Great work!

Not only this book offers the most comprehensive innovation and business change overview but it really helps you take the next step, driving you step by step from theory to practice (also with super useful background notes and driving questions)

I really enjoyed the whole book, but mostly the culture chapter, mainly because I always failed to acknowledge its major role in favouring or inhibiting business growth. Loved the graphics that helped connect all the dots in a visually appealing (and way easier) way.

We’been willing to innovate our business for some years now, but then we always got stuck before we even started, because basically we had no idea where to start…This book helped us do just that: find the right starting point with guiding questions and an incredibly comprehensive innovation overview.

Thousands of organizations leverage the UNITE models - these are some of them ...

    Why we use it

Most organizations use the same approach to create systemic change as they do to make progress on their core operations. This does not work and is the root cause why innovations routinely fail. Every company grows in 3 separate horizons and each of those horizons has tools, processes, and mindsets that are unique them. This idea is at the core of How to Create Innovation.

    How It Works

Change operates in companies on three levels, or horizons. On the level of everyday business (Horizon 1), incremental improvements optimize and streamline systems. On the second level (Horizon 2), step-change transformation seeks to change one part of your business in a more significant way and manage the ripple effects which that creates in other parts of the business. The most significant level of change (Horizon 3) is innovation, which typically moves beyond the established business to create a totally new product or business model.
The UNITE Horizons of Growth outlines the necessary approaches, tools, management strategies, and goals for each horizon.

Using the UNITE Horizons of Growth supports you in achieving your goals in a number of key ways: it helps situate you in your specific context, it is pivotal to understanding what it specifically takes for growth to happen, it helps allocate funds among growth initiatives, and it reminds an organization that its tactics should differ according to what it is trying to achieve.

What is the goal of the model?

Managing growth across all 3 Horizons effectively. Most digital transformations and innovation initiatives fail because companies apply Horizon 1 approaches to a Horizon 2 or 3 challenge. As we show in How to Create Innovation, understanding the necessary distinction between these 3 Horizons of Growth is the prerequisite for success.
